The New Book of Patch

The Book of Patch is five chapters, moving from history into real practice.

It opens with the story of tarot itself: what it actually is, and where it came from. Chapter 1, Stepping Into Tarot, covers the four Arcana (Major, Holy, Minor, Royal) and the esoteric basics: reversals, astrological correspondences, Hermetic Qabalah, the Tree of Life, and how to read each card's astral signature border.

Chapter 2, Card Descriptions, is the heart of the book. It's a deep, multi-page entry for all 82 cards: upright and reversed keys, an astral signature, a Tree-of-Life position, an affirmation, a full symbolism essay, reading guidance, and the creator's personal notes.

From there, the book moves into practice: working with spreads, reading for other people, and using the system day to day.

Every one of the 82 cards follows the same format, so once you learn it, you can find your way around any card fast.

Upright & Reverse Keys: the essence of the card at a glance. Astral Signature: its planet, sign, or element, plus its exact position on the Tree of Life and a short affirmation to sit with. Micro-Description: a quick-reference read for when you're at the table. Then the long form goes deeper, with a full symbolism description, reading guidance, the reversed meaning, and the creator's personal notes on why the card was designed the way it is.

It's the difference between looking a card up and actually understanding it.

Patch Tarot is an original, ascended reworking of tarot's underlying structure, created from the ground up. The book teaches that system in full.

You'll learn how the 22 Major Arcana map to the 22 paths on the Tree of Life, why Patch adds four Holy Arcana beyond the traditional deck, and how the suits relate to the elements, astrology, and numerology. It also covers why some cards carry new names, like the Alchemist, the Avatar, Vitality, and the Aeon, and what that shift means.

This is the architecture behind every card in the deck, laid out clearly for the first time.

The Book of Patch was written by Jordan River and edited by Rose Knight, over hundreds of hours together of art, writing, editing, and publishing, and that's just for this version, which is a new edition based on a former edition compiled after months and months of writing and editing too.
